■　デビュー50周年を超え、ウッドストック・フェスティヴァルから50年を迎えた今年、グレイトフル・デッドの膨大なライヴ・アーカイヴから、また新たな音源が公式発売となった。今回発売となるのは、彼らのキャリアにおいては晩年とも呼べる1991年のライヴである。

■　キャリア中、2,000回以上ものショウを行ってきたと言われるグレイトフル・デッド。夏のツアーでは”デッドヘッズ”と呼ばれる熱狂的なファンが彼らを会場から会場、街から街へと追いかけるようになり、社会現象として取り上げられるまでになった1970年代後半、彼らのライヴはホールに収まり切らない規模となリ始めた。その勢いはとどまることなく、1987年にはグレイトフル・デッドの唯一、そして初めての全米TOP10ヒット「Touch Of Grey」によって加わった新たな若い世代のファンの到来もあって、彼らのライヴ会場はスタジアム・クラスへと広がっていった。

■　その時期のグレイトフル・デッドのライヴが公式音源として登場！ニュージャージー州イースト・ラザフォードにあるジャイアンツ・スタジアムで彼らが1987年から1991年に行ったライヴの中から、1991年6月17日の公演の音源が3枚組CD及び5枚組アナログLPとして発売となる。こちらの音源が公式音源としてリリースされるのは、今回が初めてとなる。
